Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to PC

By March 20, 2019 One Comment

Microsoft has confirmed at last week’s Inside Xbox show that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to PC on Steam

That’s right Halo fans, The Master Chief Collection (MCC) will be coming to PC on Steam and Microsoft Store. Just a little heads up, each game will be released individually and in chronological order. This will help Halo fanatics get the same enjoyment of Halo as if they’re going through the story one more time rather than launching the collection at once with one big bundle. This means that 343 Industries will launch them with the following order:

  1. Halo: Reach

  2. Halo: Combat Evolved

  3. Halo 2

  4. Halo 3

  5. Halo 3: ODST (Campaign)

  6. Halo 4

343 Industries also stated that this staggered schedule will enable it to ensure that each is “right” with PC features including sliders, 4K resolution, adjustable framerates and remappable keys. Microsoft said that the game will “evolve and grow over time with community input.”

Brian Jarrard, Community Director said that they’ll be “embarking on a journey with our community to build a PC experience that delivers on PC gamer expectations… The team is passionately committed to ensuring that all of the features, bells, and whistles expected in a modern PC title are included with MCC.”

When will the Master Chief Collection be released on Steam or Microsoft Store?

Thing is, anyone hoping for a firm release date will sadly be disappointed, since Brain Jarrard did state that the games will be “ready when they’re ready.” Nevertheless, some good news is that work on Reach and Combat Evolved are being worked on at the same time which will probably decrease the time gap of their release.

Another good note is that if anyone is looking to test out any of the MCC games early on PC can sign for these beta tests. Overarching feedback from the beta testers will then be taken into account before each game’s release. Given that this stuff has happened before, these “tests” might end up extending the release even further. But hey, do we want another Anthem fiasco happening?

Would I be able to buy the collection as a bundle? Or will I have to purchase each game individually?

Since each of the games in the Master Chief Collection will be rolling out individually a lot of people have been asking questions on pricing and bundles. From what the producers have said, fans will have the option of purchasing the games individually OR just buying the full collection straight away. It’s up to you mate.

When is the first public test for Halo Reach on PC?

From what is said, should be pretty soon. The game is currently running and the team is giving the PC UI and controls a “first pass” to make sure it is up to standard. Will keep everyone updated on further announcements.
